October Meeting (Scrapitude and Seamly Stitching Updates)

Standard

2013-09-27 18.09.13Sandy H here, posting in Lori’s absence! (Rumor has it she’s off gallavanting with her husband in beautiful places to celebrate their anniversary. I guess we’ll let her off blog duty for that.)

That being said: Sorry, folks–I wasn’t photographer this month so I don’t have pics from show n’ tell. You’ll have to poke at a certain-someone-with-the-camera so we can eventually get them posted. (wink wink) So just for some visual appeal, I’m including a photo from my backyard on a particularly gorgeous fall day this week. These trees are even prettier today!

In any case, for those of you who are doing Charlotte’s Scrapitude Mystery Quilt, I have posted the next set of instructions, complete with photos and even a VIDEO (woot woot!) of Charlotte explaining the step, on my blog. Click here to get to it.

And for those of you doing Jan and Vickie’s Seamly Stitching embroidery extravaganza, here are Jan’s most excellent instructions for Month 2.

And for those doing the paper-pieced block of the month, Kate announced that for next month, we’re to do #79 on page 64 (the watering can).

Sue passed along that for November’s meeting, the shelter has requested donations of personal products (shampoo, body wash/soap, toothpaste, etc.).

Going on the May retreat (May 16-18, 2014)? Vickie needs your $50 deposit at November’s meeting if at all possible. And get it on your calendar now: The next fall retreat will be Oct 10-12, 2014. (Deposits will likely be due for that one in May–the retreat center works 6 months ahead.)

The Christmas Party Committee passed around a sign-up sheet for us to put our names down for what we’d like to bring to the party–appetizers, main dishes, desserts, ‘n like that. If you didn’t get a chance to sign up, it’ll probably go around again in November. We’ll also be doing a Christmas grab-bag during the party–bring a wrapped gift of no more than $10 in value, and we’ll be doing a swap. Sue is getting information on how we may be able to support a family and/or gifts for the shelter at Christmastime–more about that in November as well.

I think the next sew days are November 14 & 15, 9-5p. Sorry, thought I’d put it in my calendar but apparently it didn’t save so I’m working from memory here. (Sheepish grin.) Fortunately, we’ll have another guild meeting before then so you can confirm the date.

I think that’s it. For all y’all going on the retreat in a couple of weeks, have a great time! And we’ll expect pictures!
